I started with sewing a super cozy hoodie for Vanellope. I picked a fleece that best matched the bright, candy like colors I wanted and had a cuddly knap to its right side. I noticed while looking at screen captures and watching my copy of the movie that it looked like the inside of her hood was actually a different color than the teal. I was happy to find I still had some gray sweatshirt fabric in my fabric stash to use. One amusing moment was realizing that if I wanted to use extra large pink cording that I would need to find a grommet large enough to string it through!

I cannot thank Anti Ai-chan enough for her amazing tutorial on making Vanellope’s skirt. It creates a really beautiful outcome. The skirt is supposed to look like a shiny Reeses Peanut Butter Cup wrapper and I picked a shiny satin backed with the recommended super thick DecorBond. The skirt looks awesome while you’re standing but due to how stiff it is, it can be a bear to try to sit in!

The stripes on my leggings are sewn except for the thin purple line that I felt would be easiest to match by painting. The leggings turned out super comfortable and a nice warm addition to my already cozy costume.

The candy is all sculpted from lightweight clay and glued to hairpins. I worked hard to place each candy piece in the wig as close to how she wears her actual candy. I also made a cookie medal for a friend who cosplayed Ralph!
